Terms of Service

1. App and Owner

These Terms of Service apply to Signal Ark, an iPhone and iPad app and related website operated by Jean-Marc Moro.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using Signal Ark, the Signal Ark website, or related API-backed app features, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or service.

3. Purpose of Signal Ark

Signal Ark is an educational astronomy and cosmic radio signal exploration app. It helps users explore prepared signal packages, candidate reports, source credits, sonification, images, and lessons about how signal candidates are reviewed.

4. Scientific and Educational Disclaimer

Signal Ark is not a professional scientific instrument, not an observatory, not a guarantee of extraterrestrial detection, and not a substitute for official scientific analysis. Candidate reports are educational and exploratory. Interesting does not mean extraterrestrial. Every candidate requires validation.

5. No Extraterrestrial Detection Claims

Signal Ark does not claim to detect extraterrestrial intelligence. An anomaly, candidate, signal of interest, drift rate, RFI probability, signal-to-noise ratio, or confidence label is not a discovery statement.

6. Source Labels and Learning Packages

Signal Ark may include traceable open-data packages, study packages, and educational simulated use cases. Demo or simulated learning material must not be interpreted as a verified real detection.

7. Candidate Reports and Returned Results

The app may allow users to review packages, run lightweight local scans, save candidates, and send small scan or review results back to the Signal Ark database. These returned results may support future review, ranking, internal analysis, or aggregated summaries. Signal Ark does not guarantee that any user result will be sent to an external scientific institution.

8. Sonification, Sounds, and Images

Some sounds in Signal Ark are recordings, some are plasma or radio conversions, some are data sonifications, and some are Signal Ark generated interpretations. A sonification is not necessarily original sound from space. Cosmos images may come from NASA, ESA, Webb/STScI, Chandra, or other credited public or official sources. Signal Ark does not claim ownership of third-party imagery or media.

9. Subscriptions and Purchases

Signal Ark may offer auto-renewable subscriptions or other access products through Apple In-App Purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Auto-renewable subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. Your Apple ID account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings. Signal Ark uses Apple In-App Purchase only. The website does not process payments, does not collect payment card details, does not use Stripe, does not use PayPal, and does not provide external checkout or external payment links.

10. Apple Standard EULA

Unless Signal Ark provides a separate license agreement in the app or App Store listing, use of the app is also governed by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement. You can read Apple’s Standard EULA here: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.

12. User Responsibilities

Users must not abuse APIs, overload systems, attempt unauthorized access, upload malicious payloads, misuse exports, bypass access controls, or misrepresent Signal Ark outputs as confirmed scientific discoveries.

13. Service Availability

Signal Ark does not guarantee uninterrupted access. Backend systems, APIs, packages, sounds, images, data sources, subscription products, or app features may change, pause, or become unavailable.

14. Intellectual Property

Signal Ark owns its app design, interface, educational materials, generated sonifications, package structure, and original content. Third-party and public-source data or media remain credited to their original sources.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Signal Ark and its developer are not liable for indirect losses, unavailable service, data errors, interrupted access, misunderstood educational reports, or decisions made from exploratory app content.

16. Changes to These Terms

Signal Ark may update these Terms over time. Continued use of the app, website, or API-backed features after changes means acceptance of the updated Terms.
